What can the employer do to avoid potential infection at the workplace and what regulations can be introduced to reduce exposure?
The employer should encourage frequent handwashing with soap, and should provide hand disinfecting liquids at hand-washing facilities and at the entrances to the premises. It is recommended to hand out such disinfectant liquids in small bottles to the employees so that they can disinfect their hands from time to time, especially in jobs where contact with customers is frequent. Frequent disinfecting of door-handles, railings and other such objects is also recommended, as is the regular ventilation of the premises.
It is imperative to provide training about maintaining hygienic guidelines. Disinfecting cleaning procedures should be carried out more frequently than usual.
Apart from hygienic measures, the employer can also respond to the pandemic threat by defining which work processes can be carried out by employees working from home. The conclusion of an agreement with the employee regarding the usage of company-owned technical items and all other details is practical.
