I own a freight forwarding business. What should I expect?
The Government continues to take all necessary measures to maintain the continued and smooth operation of freight forwarding, as this is essential to ensuring the availability of goods and the operational capacity of national economies. Similarly to other EU member states, Hungary is also adopting temporary exceptions to the driving and rest periods regulations. Pursuant to the exemption, the maximum driving periods for truck and bus drivers are increased, while their minimum rest periods are decreased between 21 March and 19 April, 2020. In order to reinforce the security of supply, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology has already suspended weekend freight traffic restrictions. This measure, which is effective until withdrawal, gives Hungarian businesses added flexibility in organizing their domestic shipping tasks. It supports retail businesses in the continueal replenishment of stocks to service consumer demand.
