Who is obliged to pay the extra expenses related to execution of duties of employment?
As a governing rule, the employer has to cover such costs of employees that are justified in connection with execution of duties of employment. So, for example, if the employer no longer provides free bus transport to the workplace as the company is operating with reduced capacity, and if getting to and from the workplace means extra expenses for the employees, the employer has to cover these costs. The amounts, however, must be justified. The same is true if the employer allows participation in client meetings, but does not allow the use of public transportation. In this case, taxi costs must be reimbursed.
