Who is responsible for providing personal protective equipment at the workplace and is its use mandatory?
If the employer orders the use of protective gear, then the employer must provide it and employees must wear it appropriately. If employees wish to wear their own protective gear on their own initiative, this needs to be approved by the employer, since wearing protective gear may hinder work performance and may, in certain situations, cause additional risk.
